St Januarius’ Blood

St Januarius was beheaded in 305 at the crater of Solfatara. St Januarius blood was saved by Eusebia and then taken to Naples. The blood is preserved in two vials, and is removed from the shrine three times every year when masses gather to watch it turn to liquid, all while praying for the safety of the Naples.
